Parent Council Positions

School Council Elections 2025-26: Once again, we are looking for many parents/guardians to please help get involved in our School Council this year.  Whether you have been a Davisville Parent for many years, or this is your first, we could use your help.  Everyone is invited to attend all School Council meetings and volunteer to help on committees, but in order to be a voting member of the Council, you need need to apply to be a parent/caregiver representative.  To do so, please complete this form attached, and submit it prior to September 16, 2025.  You can email the form to Mr. Finkelstein at david.finkelstein@tdsb.on.ca or bring it to the school office.  We will have some extra printed copies in the office as well. 

Our Council elections will be in person on September 16, 2025 starting at 6:30pm (child care will be available), so please mark the date and details will follow. Please make this your year to get involved and help our school!

Executive Council: Parents who act as the voting body of Council and help ensure all voices are represented. Many are involved in running various events/committees.

Council Chair (s): The Chair’s role is to oversee operations of the Parent Council, to liaise with the Principal and Vice Principal on a regular basis, to schedule and chair Council meetings, to oversee and assist events/committees, and to advocate on behalf of all parents.

Secretary: The secretary is responsible for taking the minutes at the monthly meeting and finalizing these minutes, once approved by Council.

Treasurer: The Treasurer’s role is to work with the executive to draft an annual budget and to perform the bookkeeping required by the Parent Council.

Co-Treasurer: Manage all banking and support the treasurer in bookkeeping needs

Communications Coordinator(s): Regularly updates our website and shares school news with the Davisville community through a weekly newsletter and social media sites. Website updates are likely on average, twice a month; social media updates as required. This can also be shared (one person can update website and social media for one month, the other person can coordinate the weekly newsletter.) This role is not limited to 2; you do not have to be part of council to be a part of the communications committee (sharing socials, website, e-newsletter).

Events/Fundraising Coordinator(s): plan and organizes events and fundraising initiatives to support programs and activities. This role includes collaborating with Chairs, TDSB Admin/staff and volunteers, managing event logistics, and ensuring fundraising goals are met.

Volunteer Coordinator: recruits, organizes, and supports volunteers to enhance school programs and events. This role includes matching volunteers with opportunities and ensuring effective communication between staff and volunteers. Also, . onsite volunteer for larger events, as point person for event.

Class Connector Coordinator: The focal point for our class coordinators who assist in communications and bringing class issues forward to Council. Also sends emails for upcoming events, request for volunteers, and can segment the messages as appropriate.

Nutrition Lead: supports and promotes healthy eating initiatives within the school. This role includes coordinating school snack or meal programs, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines, and collaborating with staff and parents to encourage balanced and inclusive food choices.

Snack Program Coordinator: oversees the planning and delivery of the school’s snack program, ensuring students have access to nutritious and balanced snacks. This role involves managing the program’s budget, sourcing supplies, organizing volunteers, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. The coordinator plays a key role in promoting healthy eating habits and supporting student well-being.

Pizza Coordinator(s): Orders pizza through Pizza Nova ordering form; sends email to vendor for HST exemption for the school year;  coordinate with Office Administrator to create SchoolCash Online ordering process – consult with treasurer/ chair regarding $; builds pizza list, updates as needed; send the pizza/class list to pizza committee leaders and admin for printing on the day of pizza lunches. Can be done from home.

2 Pizza Committees: operate alternate Fridays every month. We are looking for 2 leads who can help coordinate volunteers as part of the 2 Fridays that parents might be able to volunteer for. The time commitment each Friday would be 2 hrs.
